Mukhtar Hussain

Global Head, Principal Investments, HSBC Bank Plc

Mukhtar holds a Bachelor of Science and Economics Degree from the University of Wales.

Mukhtar started his career as a graduate trainee in 1982 in London where he was based until 1993 when he moved to Dubai to establish HSBC's regional Investment Banking business. In his 13 years in the Middle East he was principally responsible for developing HSBC's franchises across the full spectrum of Debt and Equity Capital Markets, Investment Banking Advisory, Project Finance and Corporate Banking. HSBC has received multiple awards in the region, including Best Investment Bank Middle East in 2006 from Euromoney.

In March 2006, Mukhtar was appointed as Co-Head Global Banking for HSBC and moved to London to take up his new post. In this position he was jointly responsible for the management of HSBC's Corporate and Investment Banking activities on a global basis. In October 2006, he was appointed as Global Head Principal Investments.

Mukhtar is an Executive Director of HSBC Bank Middle East Limited, a Director of HSBC Private Equity Middle East Limited and a Director of the Dubai International Financial Exchange ("DIFX").

Mukhtar resides in London.
