Shehab Gargash

Shehab holds a BBA (Marketing) from George Washington University, Washington D.C. and an MBA in International Business from George Washington University, Washington D.C.
Shehab has been actively involved in the development of capital markets in the UAE, both in the context of his institutional work and in his personal capacity. His contributions have been both formal and informal, ranging from the development of innovative new capital market products to extensive sessions with key decision makers and regulators on the ongoing structure of the UAE's financial markets
Shehab is a UAE citizen and a member of a well-known UAE-based business family with interests in automobile retailing, real estate and investment management.
His roles over the past 18 years have included Marketing, Distribution, Trade Finance and Investment Banking, first with Citibank (1989-1993) and later on with the Emirates Bank Group (1993-2001).
In 2001, Shehab founded and is currently Managing Director of Daman Securities, a financial services company focused on developing capital markets opportunities within the UAE, and the wider Middle East. He is also a Director of the Daman UAE Value Fund and the Daman Iraq Fund.
Other previous roles have included being an active member of the board of Emirates Loyalty Company, a UAE-based customer loyalty program development and management company.
Formerly, Shehab also served as Treasurer and member of the Supreme Committee (board of trustees) of the Zayed International Prize for the Environment (1999-2001), a Dubai-based non-profit organisation.
Shehab currently writes a popular daily column in the Arabic newspaper 'Al Ittihad', commenting on current business topics in the local and regional investment arena.
Shehab resides in Dubai.
